Renowned organic chemist visits IMU

The renowned organic chemist, Professor Tamio Hayashi, from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University was invited to visit Inner Mongolia University (IMU) in Hohhot, the capital of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from March 7th to 9th.

Hayashi gave a special speech regarding the recent advances of rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric arylation at IMU’s College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering during his visit.

In his speech, he introduced the “Hayashi-Miyaura reaction,” which was after himself, as well as recent research advances and the present findings of his labs. Students and teachers of related disciplines listened to his speech and communicated with the professor.

During the three-day visit, Chen Guoqing, the president of IMU, met Hayashi, introducing him to IMU’s history, its development, and its important policies for talents.
